A Safe and Stimulating Learning Environment for Early Learners

At Academy Child Care Center, we are committed to providing the highest quality care and early education for your infant.

Our goal is to create a loving and supportive environment where your baby can grow, learn, and develop with confidence and joy.

At Academy Childcare Center, our Infant Program provides a warm, nurturing, and stimulating environment for your baby’s earliest stages of development. Our dedicated caregivers create a safe and loving space where your baby can thrive. We believe in fostering each child’s growth with personalized attention, helping them reach important milestones in a supportive environment.

Curriculum

Our curriculum offers well-balanced, daily learning experiences that support social, emotional, physical, intellectual, and language development. We ensure these experiences are developmentally and linguistically appropriate, promoting early communication through both verbal and nonverbal interactions.

Daily Routine

Infants thrive on consistency, so our daily routine is flexible yet predictable. We follow each baby’s natural schedule for feeding, naps, and playtime, ensuring they feel secure and content. Our activities include a mix of teacher-directed and self-directed experiences such as engaging interactions, story time, and exploratory play, all designed to stimulate your baby’s senses and encourage bonding. Weather permitting, children will explore the outdoors twice a day, including strolls with parent permission.

Learning Standards

  • Educational Framework: Our Infant Program follows state-recognized early learning standards, ensuring that our curriculum aligns with best practices in early childhood education, focusing on play-based and experiential learning.
  • Developmentally Appropriate Practices: We use teaching strategies that are tailored to the developmental stages of infants, incorporating activities that promote critical thinking, problem-solving, and emotional resilience.
  • Inclusive Practices: Our program is designed to be inclusive, accommodating the needs of all children, including those with special needs, ensuring every child receives the support they need to succeed.

Assessment and Progress Tracking

We use a combination of observational assessments and developmental screenings to measure each child’s progress, ensuring they meet key learning outcomes and are well-prepared for the next stage in their educational journey. Our educators observe infants daily, noting their growth and development. If any concerns arise, we collaborate with parents and, when necessary and with parent permission, refer families to Early Intervention services. Quarterly progress reports keep parents informed and engaged in their child’s developmental milestones, fostering a strong partnership in their care.

Classroom Design

Our infant classroom is thoughtfully designed to create a safe, warm, and engaging environment where babies can explore and grow. Soft, comfortable areas encourage tummy time and crawling, while age-appropriate toys and sensory materials stimulate curiosity and development. The layout is organized to allow individualized care, ensuring each baby’s needs are met in a nurturing space.

Outdoor Exploration

Outdoor exploration is a vital part of our program, where infants experience the natural world within our 8-acre nature grounds. Weather permitting, we take the children outside twice a day for fresh air, stroller rides, and gentle sensory exploration. In addition, we have a playground specifically designed for our infant and toddler groups, providing a safe and age-appropriate space for outdoor play. These outings help your baby connect with nature, enjoy the outdoors, and develop early motor skills in a secure setting.

Indoor Gross Motor

Our indoor gross motor area is designed to support your baby’s physical development with a variety of soft climbing structures, mats, and push toys that encourage movement, coordination, and the development of motor skills. We also have the luxury of a large indoor gym, perfect for use on rainy days when outdoor play isn’t possible. While the classrooms can accommodate gross motor activities, the gym provides an expansive space for more active play, ensuring your baby can explore and grow in any weather.

Emotional and Individualized Support

We understand that each infant has unique emotional needs, which is why our caregivers provide personalized, responsive care that promotes secure attachment and emotional well-being. We focus on building strong, trusting relationships through consistent routines, one-on-one interactions, and attentiveness to each baby’s cues. Our goal is to ensure that every child feels safe, loved, and supported throughout their day.

Parent Involvement Opportunities

We believe that strong parent involvement enriches your child’s early learning experience. We offer various opportunities for parents to engage, such as participating in classroom activities, volunteering for special events, or sharing a family tradition with the class. Your involvement helps build a strong sense of community and connection between home and school.

Communication Channels

Open and consistent communication is key to fostering a strong partnership with parents. We use a variety of channels, including daily updates through our parent app, newsletters, and face-to-face conversations during drop-off and pick-up times. This ensures that you are always informed about your child’s daily activities, milestones, and overall well-being.

Feedback and Collaboration

We value your insights and work closely with you to ensure your child’s needs are met. We encourage regular feedback through surveys, suggestion boxes, and informal discussions. Your input helps us tailor our program to better serve your child and enhance their learning experience.

Parent-Teacher Conferences

We offer quarterly parent-teacher conferences to discuss your child’s progress, set goals, and collaborate on strategies to support their development. These meetings provide a dedicated time to review milestones, share observations, and ensure your child is thriving in our care.

Hygiene and Cleanliness

We prioritize maintaining a clean and hygienic environment to ensure your baby’s health and safety. Our classrooms are cleaned and sanitized daily, with frequent handwashing and toy disinfecting throughout the day. We follow strict diaper-changing protocols and use only non-toxic, baby-safe cleaning products.

Illness and Emergency Preparedness

Your child’s well-being is our top priority. We have clear protocols for managing illnesses and handling emergencies. Our staff is trained in first aid, CPR, and emergency procedures. In case of illness, we follow guidelines to minimize the spread of infections, including notifying parents promptly and isolating sick children when necessary.

Rest and Sleep Practices

We follow safe sleep practices to ensure your baby gets the rest they need in a secure environment. Each infant has their own crib or pack ‘n play, and we adhere to guidelines such as placing babies on their backs to sleep and maintaining a sleep environment free of hazards. We monitor sleeping infants closely to ensure they are comfortable and safe.

Nutrition and Allergies

We understand the importance of proper nutrition for your baby’s growth and development. Parents provide all meals and snacks, and we ensure they are handled with care and according to your instructions. We are vigilant in accommodating any allergies or special dietary needs, creating a safe environment for all children. For families who provide formula or breast milk, we follow strict handling and storage guidelines to maintain its quality and ensure your baby receives the best care.

Science and Nature Adventures

Even at this early age, we introduce your baby to the wonders of the natural world. Through sensory-rich activities like exploring textures and observing nature, infants begin to develop curiosity and an appreciation for the environment. Tactile Play is also a key component, allowing babies to explore different textures and objects to enhance their sensory development.

Creative Corner (Creative Arts)

In our Creative Corner, infants engage in safe, sensory activities that stimulate their imagination and fine motor skills. Using materials like soft fabric, textured paper, and large crayons, babies explore colors, shapes, and textures. These activities are designed to be both fun and developmentally appropriate, encouraging early artistic expression. Visual Stimulation is incorporated through the use of high-contrast images and colorful toys to engage visual senses.

Rhythm and Moves (Music and Movement)

Music and movement are integral to our program, helping to develop your baby’s coordination and rhythm. Through activities like clapping, dancing, and playing musical instruments, we encourage physical movement and introduce the joy of music. Music and Movement activities also stimulate auditory senses, supporting overall sensory and physical development.

Words and Wonders (Language and Communication)

We foster early language and communication skills through engaging activities such as storytelling, singing, and interactive play. Our caregivers use rich, descriptive language and respond to your baby’s cues, laying the foundation for strong communication skills. Story Time introduces early literacy through gentle storytelling and picture books, while Sign Language teaches basic signs to support early communication.
