Experience Comprehensive Learning with Our GROWTH Approach

At Academy Child Care Center, we provide a supportive and stimulating environment where your toddler can thrive, learn, and grow with confidence.

Program Overview

At Academy Childcare Center, our Toddler Program goes beyond the basics, integrating best practices to support your child’s rapid development during these formative years. We focus on reflective questioning, expanding vocabulary, and encouraging exploration, helping toddlers achieve essential milestones in a nurturing environment. Our curriculum is designed to foster independence, creativity, and problem-solving skills, ensuring each child feels confident and curious as they learn through fun hands-on activities about the world around them.

Curriculum

Our high-quality and fun curriculum emphasizes hands-on learning to expand your toddler’s thinking and play. We use songs, rhymes, and games like “Hokey Pokey” and “Wheels on the Bus” to teach body parts, animals, sounds, and concepts. We also introduce basic shapes, colors, letters, and sounds in an age-appropriate manner, laying the foundation for early literacy. Pretend play is encouraged, helping children develop new vocabulary and social skills, while their natural curiosity is transformed into learning opportunities that support their growth in language, cognitive, and social-emotional development.

We are committed to meeting the diverse needs of all learners, recognizing that each child learns at their own pace. Our curriculum is tailored to accommodate different learning styles, abilities, and interests. Our educators use a variety of teaching strategies, including reflective questioning, interactive play, and individualized attention, to engage every child. We also provide additional resources for those who may need extra support, ensuring an inclusive and enriching learning environment for all.

Daily Routine

Our daily routine is designed to provide a balanced structure that combines both teacher-led and child-led activities. Mornings typically begin with group activities where children engage in songs, stories, and interactive learning guided by our educators. This is followed by child-led exploration time, allowing toddlers to make choices and explore their interests through play.

Outdoor time is scheduled twice a day, giving toddlers the opportunity to explore and engage in physical activities in our safe, expansive outdoor spaces. The day also includes scheduled sensory, science, and enriching activities. Childres eat two snacks and a lunch and take a nap to ensure your toddler’s nutritional needs and rest are met. Diapering is integrated seamlessly into the routine, with caregivers providing attentive, individualized care to each child. This structured yet flexible approach helps toddlers develop independence, while also ensuring they feel secure and supported throughout their day.

Classroom Design

Our toddler classrooms are thoughtfully arranged to create a stimulating and safe environment where children can explore, learn, and grow. Each classroom is filled with natural lighting, creating a bright and welcoming atmosphere that enhances the learning experience. We prioritize safety by ensuring that all classrooms are child-safe and fully compliant with safety regulations. The space is divided into various learning centers, including areas for creative arts, sensory play, and imaginative exploration. These centers are designed to promote independence, social interaction, and cognitive development, allowing toddlers to engage in activities that foster their curiosity and creativity.

Outdoor Exploration

Toddlers benefit greatly from outdoor activities, and our program takes full advantage of our expansive 8-acre nature grounds. Children enjoy outdoor play twice a day in our dedicated toddler playground, which is equipped with age-appropriate structures that encourage physical development and social interaction. Beyond the playground, our outdoor exploration includes nature walks where toddlers can collect leaves, stones, and other natural items, engage in bug hunts to learn about insects, and participate in simple gardening activities where they can help plant flowers or vegetables. These activities not only enhance physical development but also foster a connection with the natural world and a sense of responsibility towards the environment.

Indoor Gross Motor

To support your toddler’s physical growth, we provide opportunities for indoor gross motor area with soft play structures, climbing equipment, and ample space for movement. On rainy days or when outdoor play isn’t possible, our large indoor gym offers a safe and engaging environment for active play, helping toddlers build strength, coordination, and confidence.

Emotional and Individualized Support

We prioritize each toddler’s emotional well-being by creating a warm and responsive environment that meets their individual needs. Our caregivers provide personalized attention, offering comfort and encouragement as children navigate new experiences. Through consistent routines, positive reinforcement, and responsive caregiving, we help toddlers develop a strong sense of security, self-esteem, and emotional resilience.

We understand that consistent communication is key. Our daily updates and open lines of communication keep you informed about your toddler’s growth, helping you stay connected with their experiences at school.

Parent Involvement Opportunities

Recognizing that parents are their child’s first teacher, we encourage your involvement through classroom activities and events like “Toddler Exploration Days,” where you can share in your child’s curiosity and learning journey.

Feedback and Collaboration

We believe in a collaborative approach, inviting your insights and concerns during our regular parent-teacher discussions to align our efforts with your expectations and your toddler’s unique needs.

Parent-Teacher Conferences

We offer conferences every six months or as needed at your request, providing a comprehensive review of your toddler’s development and creating a personalized plan to support their continued growth.

Hygiene and Cleanliness:
At this stage, toddlers are naturally curious and love to explore, making hygiene and cleanliness a top priority in our care routine. We turn hygiene practices into fun learning experiences, encouraging toddlers to participate in handwashing songs and helping to clean up after playtime. Our environment is meticulously maintained with non-toxic, child-friendly cleaning products, ensuring that every surface, toy, and play area is safe and clean. By integrating hygiene into daily activities, we instill lifelong healthy habits in our toddlers.

Illness and Emergency Preparedness:
We understand that toddlers are still building their immune systems, so we prioritize a healthy environment through proactive illness management. Health checks are integrated into our daily routine as friendly, educational activities, helping children learn about the importance of staying healthy. Our staff, trained in first aid and CPR, handles emergencies with calm expertise. Monthly fire drills, coupled with playful safety instructions, familiarize toddlers with procedures in a non-threatening way. We maintain close collaboration with parents, ensuring everyone is informed and prepared, making safety a seamless part of your child’s daily life.

Rest and Sleep Practices:
Understanding that rest is crucial for toddlers’ growth and well-being, we create a calm and secure environment for naptime. We follow a consistent sleep schedule that aligns with each child’s natural rhythms, helping them feel relaxed and ready for rest. Soft lighting, soothing music, and the familiar bedding provided by parents add comfort and contribute to a peaceful atmosphere. Our caregivers closely monitor rest times, ensuring that each toddler receives the sleep they need while offering gentle wake-up routines to ease transitions back into active play.

Nutrition and Allergies:
While parents provide all meals and snacks, we prioritize creating a safe and healthy eating environment for your toddler. Our caregivers monitor meal times to ensure that all children are eating well and staying safe, particularly for those with allergies. We work closely with parents to accommodate any dietary restrictions and can offer recommendations to support balanced nutrition. Meal times are structured to foster positive eating habits, and we encourage a social, enjoyable atmosphere where toddlers can explore their food with confidence.

Our toddler program introduces a rich variety of activities designed to stimulate early development and a love for learning. We share the wonders of science through hands-on explorations that spark curiosity and discovery. Art projects and musical activities foster creativity and physical coordination. We continue to build communication skills with sign language and introduce simple Spanish words, enhancing language development and cultural awareness.
